Tohnichi Manufacturing Co., Ltd., founded in 1949 and headquartered in Tokyo, manufactures precision torque tools serving over 100 countries across automotive, cosmetics, petroleum, aerospace, and space sectors. With 200+ overseas distributors and multiple international offices, the company has built a global reputation for quality and precision — and needed its digital services to reflect the same standard.
From Paper to Digital: Transforming the Traceability System
Tohnichi previously provided its Traceability System Diagrams only on paper and for a fee — creating manual overhead for both staff and customers. When the team decided to build a digital, AWS-based version in-house, they needed expert architecture guidance to do it right.
System Architecture
The new Traceability System uses a clean serverless architecture:
"We decided to build a system to distribute digitally. Greatly reducing costs enabled us to now offer the service free of charge, enhancing customer satisfaction."

Architecture Review: Security and Cost Optimization
Classmethod conducted a comprehensive architecture review with two focus areas: security hardening and cost optimization. For security, AWS WAF was implemented to automatically block suspicious access patterns, and AWS Security Hub was deployed for continuous compliance monitoring and permission auditing.
For cost optimization, Classmethod identified that Lambda execution frequency was driving unnecessary costs. By implementing caching strategies at the CloudFront layer, Lambda invocations were dramatically reduced — enabling the free-tier service delivery model that transformed customer satisfaction.

Partnership Beyond Technical Consulting
"Classmethod had strong expertise in AWS consulting. The quick response and clear, courteous communication left a very good impression."
"The sheer depth of technical knowledge was incredible. Even my manager said, 'If we ask Classmethod, they'll solve it,' with full confidence."
"Classmethod truly inspired me and kept me moving forward. This was not just technical consulting."
A DevelopersIO blog post published by Classmethod directly addressed Tohnichi's caching challenge at a critical project juncture — demonstrating the practical value of Classmethod's public knowledge-sharing culture.
Results Achieved
- • Traceability System released externally in September 2025
- • Service now offered free of charge to customers through cost optimization
- • Comprehensive threat monitoring via AWS WAF and Security Hub
- • Lambda cost reduced through caching optimization
- • Internal capability expanded for future AWS infrastructure management
This case study uses AWS Architecture Review and Security Consulting.
